GEORGE RILEY (SON OF EDWARD) CIVIL WAR RECORDS

Records verify that George enlisted in Company G, 15th Alabama Infantry
Regiment, CSA, on August 15, 1862. He was listed as absent on furlough
at Fredricksburg Virginia on 13 December 1862 and present at Suffolk
Virginia on 3 May 1863. He died of disease on June 16, 1863 at
Lynchburg, Bedford County Virginia. Records also state that George was
married and his widow Nancy A. Riley filed a widows application for
relief at Echo, Dale County Alabama on 18 September 1863 which was
verified on 2 June 1864.
